Bumble Bee CBA: How to Prepare for Enrollment and Long-term Compliance

The Nationwide Bumble Bee Conservation Benefit Agreement (CBA) is now live, offering a new voluntary pathway for energy and transportation projects to proactively address bumble bee conservation while securing regulatory certainty.

For clients managing infrastructure and rights-of-way, the CBA provides take coverage for 11 at-risk bumble bee species across 48 states and can be integrated into projects that have completed construction.

WEST is supporting clients through every stage of enrollment and implementation, including:

  • Evaluating habitat and potential project impacts
  • Identifying enrolled and conservation-focused (adopted) acres
  • Defining covered activities (i.e., related to operations, maintenance, and modernization)
  • Developing application materials and implementation plans
  • Supporting post-enrollment obligations, including monitoring and annual reporting

Early planning can make future compliance significantly more efficient. Whether you’re developing a new project or considering enrollment of an existing portfolio, WEST can help you understand how the CBA fits into your broader permitting and conservation strategy.
