WEST Celebrates National Fetch Day

We are getting a “jump” on National Fetch Day, tomorrow October 18th, to celebrate the incredible bond between humans and dogs! At WEST, that bond powers innovation in wildlife research. Our detection-dog teams harness their dogs’ natural drive and desire to work with toy and food rewards for a minimally invasive, highly accurate survey method that outperforms traditional techniques in complex environments. They support post-construction carcass detection at renewable energy facilities, wildlife presence/absence surveys, and habitat analysis.

Coached through WEST’s comprehensive detection-dog training program, our dogs and handlers contribute to ecological research, endangered species management, and regulatory compliance. Every day is Fetch Day as we celebrate the role fetch plays in the partnership with our four-legged colleagues, who help us solve some of the most challenging natural resource questions we face.
