Please join us in congratulating David Young on his appointment to the Peer Review Group for the Independent Scientific Review Panel (ISRP) of the Northwest Power and Conservation Council. This recognition reflects the same principles that guide WEST’s work every day: objective science, technical excellence, and practical solutions for complex natural resource challenges.
Appointment to the Peer Review Group is made through recommendations from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, recognizing individuals with specialized expertise who can support scientific reviews conducted by the ISRP. Peer Review Group members are selected to contribute to specific reviews, helping ensure adequate expertise and rigorous scientific evaluation.
In this role, David will provide expertise in wildlife studies, species and habitat assessments, and Endangered Species Act (ESA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) consultation and compliance. His experience helping clients navigate complex environmental and regulatory challenges will contribute to the Council’s mission of informed, science-based decision-making for the Pacific Northwest’s fish, wildlife, and energy resources.
This appointment also carries special significance for WEST. David follows in the footsteps of one of WEST’s founders, Dr. Lyman McDonald, who served on the ISRP for many years and helped shape its commitment to scientific excellence.
