WEST in attendance at CLE MBTA & BGEPA Conference

WEST will presenting at the CLE Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA) and Bald Eagle and Golden Protection Act (BGEPA) Conference in Denver, Colorado, this week.

The conference brings together technical experts to explore complexities of federal wildlife regulation to protect migratory birds and eagles under the MBTA and BGEPA.

The WEST team will be presenting the following presentations:

“Eagle Collision Risk Modeling – Updates and Guidance” – Thursday, January 27th, 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM MST
Kristen Nasman, Statistician
Description: Kristen will present an overview of the USFWS Bayesian Collision Risk Model used to predict eagle fatalities at wind facilities. Her presentation will include recent changes to the Collision Risk Model and implications of those changes.

“Sage Grouse on Federal Lands – An Overview and Update” – Friday, January 28th, 3:15 PM – 4:00 PM MST
Chad LeBeau, Research Biologist
Description: Policy surrounding the management of sagebrush habitats continues to evolve. Chad will provide an overview of sage-grouse ecology and how it relates to sagebrush management. He will provide an update on the status of current federal sage-grouse management plans and discuss preliminary issues surrounding the planning process associated with plan amendments.
