We are proud to see WEST Senior Biologist and Drone Program Lead, Michael Gerringer, featured in The Wildlife Professional’s November/December 2025 issue, for WEST’s work developing drone-based monitoring methods to help track declining bat populations, using the BatCopter.

Michael and the WEST team are using cutting-edge drone and acoustic technology to improve abundance estimates, enhance species detection, and support better conservation decisions.

This research was made possible through partnerships with Persimia, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), MidAmerican Energy Company, and Berkshire Hathaway Energy Renewables (BHE Renewables).
