“I began my career at WEST as a Field Technician conducting post-construction monitoring, avian use, and raptor nest surveys before pivoting into the world of business development and marketing in Oregon’s service industry. While WEST’s new branch office was being established in Oregon, I used my time in the service industry to gain valuable experience in training and coaching personnel and developed a passion for developing exceptional leaders. “I started at WEST in June 2013 as a seasonal bat biologist doing a summer of mist-netting across the Midwest. I joined the data team in August of 2013, where I wrote access queries to QA/QC the early tablet data and managed the bat acoustic detectors. While I was a field biologist, I did bat work across the Midwest, Northeast, and even some in the Southeast US. When not conducting bat work, I’ve been able to help with a variety of surveys in the Rocky Mountains and the Midwest. What I love the most about WEST is the team atmosphere and the ability to craft my job to what I enjoy the most. These days, I’m in the office more, and I mainly go out to the field to train new biologists and focus my work on being a Project Manager, technical expert assisting other PMs, and a team leader and bat practice group leader helping to hire, train, and mentor other bat folks.”
“I started with WEST almost six years ago (moving across the country to Cheyenne, Wyoming) as an Assistant Editor and have progressed up the career pathway to become the DAG Assistant Manager. Along my journey with WEST, I have cross-trained in data entry, QA/QC, and have even done a little field work!
